I think it is a huge improvement.
More efficient and I think my favorite features include the ability to assign individuals to a quick-access section at the top along with the ability to access the chat by left-clicking instead of having to right-click and "Send Message"
The look was a little foreign at first, however, I do appreciate the move to a new UI and design.

I like the quick access section.
To put it into perspective, I hated the new Snapchat update like nearly everyone, but then I got used to it, and It now seems more user-friendly than the older ones.
Perhaps It's the same with this update on Steam, the UI is a lot different, but once used to it, It'll work out just fine.

When I first noticed/used it I absolutely hated it and I thought it was really ugly and confusing. However, at this point a while after using it for the first time I've gotten used to it and prefer it to the old one. The occasional lag does get annoying at times though
