The tramp hadnt really done anything wrong, just not believe in god, or at least not in a way that the minister had thought was right, the minister himself was clearly not preaching for god, but for himself "Dont abandon me children!" Hell everyone by the end knew the minister had made them all do somthing terrible, though no idea why everyone goes nuts by the end
Though somthing i did notice is the tramps Body when all is said and done, is in the same poisition as Jesus on the cross, and no blood but his own is within a medium circle around his body
