If this is not fixed yet, Run Garry's Mod (hl2 application in your steam folder) as administrator by right clicking it. I have literally had the same issue and this fixed it completely.

Update - This problem has been fixed, to and extent. It still happens the odd time but not as much, thanks to the suggestions

I will leave 48 hours to see the result in which Ethan used to fix this issue and then it will be moved by me or a fellow colleague to the 'Support Archive'
