I used the Road To 56 mod, it is fantastic and I recommend it to anyone who wants an immersive experience:

What Country do you prefer to play as? I prefer to play with the German Reich.
Do you play as Fascist or Democratic countries? Always fascist country's. Democracy is useless.
Atomic Bombs: Useful resource or pointless feature? Well... if you start 1936 it take's a while until you reach 1945 (which is most likely the date where you researched all for it). I mostly do not need them. I actually think they are not worth it at all. They does not help that much and if you capture the province where it got dropped it you can repair everything.

    Minor European/Mideast countries, for example Bulgaria or Iran
  • Do you play as Fascist or Democratic countries?
    Being democratic doesn't gain you anything except for being a target for the Reich
  • Atomic Bombs: Useful resource or pointless feature?
    Good only for roleplay, otherwise totally useless

    - Communist countries

    - Definitely useless

Not in that screenshot but I also have Guyana, Caribbean, some Pacific islands and planning to puppet Turkey when Bulgaria finally manages to cross the Bosphorus
