The context you used "twat" in was totally insulting towards Random, personally. The word "minge", is used as a "noob" alternative, in context that is.

Care to explain the 12 HOUR ban? that's a little extreme isn't it?

Insulting players is not tolerated, especially if it's because of an RP action. I would have to say that you got off lucky with 12 hours; other staff members would have extended that to at least a day. The ban will remain.
