My game keeps crashing - arandomplatypus - 02-03-2016
Hello everyone my game keeps crashing at the same point while loading. It get to the the point where it says: downloading/model/fearless/player/portal/tank.sw.vb does anyone know what is causing the problem or how to fix it. Also my garry's crashes when I try to open my console.

Try starting a singleplayer game first.
When you are in the singleplayer world then try to connect directly to the FL server.
You can also try right-click Gmod->properties->verify integrity game cache

Do you have the content pack installed? Or counter strike/hl-content? This happened to me and when I installed those it worked fine for me so double check if you have them installed.

Your Garry's Mod crashes when you open console? You probably have DX8 instead of DX9. In steam right click Garry's Mod and click properties. Click on launching options and delete -dxlevel 8.

Alright, someone here also had the same problem and this fixed it for them(as well as for me):
Ok so first close Gmod, then open the Steam client>Library>Right click Garry's Mod>Properties>"Set Launch Options" and type this in +mat_dxlevel 95
Then just apply and then run the game. You should be able to join FL.
