How to tab out of Garry's Mod without making it crash/lag. - Nudelholz - 08-31-2010

Hey community,

for all people who can't tab out of their Garry's Mod without it crashing or something else, I got the solution.

Step 1:

Start up Garry's Mod, go to Options and select run in a window.
Close Garry's Mod.

Step 2:

Go to your Steam Library, right click on Garry's Mod an go to "Properties" then go to "Set Launch Options..."

Step 3:

You see a field where you can enter something, maybe some of you already got "-console" inside of this thing.

Now for the important part. Enter in the field:

-noborder -w 1680 -h 1050

The noborder thingy makes the game start without a border, that means you don't have the "X" to exit the game or the square to maximize it or something around it like you got in windowed mode.
-w and -h is for "widths" and "heights" that means you have to enter YOUR OWN resolution there, I entered mine there now.

Then just click ok.

Step 4:

Start Garry's Mod and tab out of it without any lags.

I run it in Window mode, won't crash too than.

That is running in a window too, but it looks exactly like fullscreen.

Windowed mode = Heart.

Although it's a total f**king c**t to reload when you accidentally click it on the Taskbar.

Since I swapped the Shift and Alt binds around (shift is now walk; alt is now sprint), I've constantly made the mistake of sprinting and attempting to view the scoreboard...

that's very usefull, i normally play with window mode and than i still see that stuff around it, but now it's gone !
