[Tips/Very Short Guide] Effective SRU Procedure - Nuka - 12-29-2014 Effective SRU Procedure After a short while playing as SRU, I've begun to notice some flaws in the way SRU execute their duties. Here's some quick tips on how to effectively and admirably go about your career in specialised policing. Keypad Crackers/Lockpicks

Response
Spoiler :
As an SRU Sergeant, your responsibilities extend to the team before you and effectively coordinating your team can result in a cleaner, more efficient resolution.
A good idea is to start with your officers consistently together and in well managed groups. Know the locations of your officers and their current activity. Knowing where your squad is will allow you to respond to hostile situations in an organised group, as opposed to messy, chronological responses from your officers, which may leave some unsupported on their first assault. Try and make sure your officers know where they're responding to and why; if they're confused they'll arrive clueless and far from ready, leaving them in a mess that doesn't constitute well to RP - take time for the passive side of aggressive RP, take care to micromanage your response instead of arriving UMPs drawn and mind set to "Terminate." Callsigns
Spoiler :
It may seem movie-esque, but using callsigns to identify officers around you is quick and easy. Take inspiration from real-life specialist teams; if you're the Serg, call yourself Lead. Assign names to your officers so you may coordinate the assault. Without organisation, your SRUs will simply attack on instinct and fall apart.
Lethal Force
Spoiler :
The Strategic Response Unit may be capable of executing raids against heavily armed suspects, but they are not the military. RP as if you're an officer. Try not to use lethal force, and rely on the intimidation SRU evokes towards subjects. This'll lead to commendation from other RPers in the long run and you'll get into the habit of using more passive methods of calming suspects.
Back At the Base
Spoiler :
While roleplaying as an SRU officer you will most likely spend a lot of time awaiting calls and protecting the nexus. This often leads to some less than RP-worthy decisions, such as patrolling the streets or shooting your gun for no reason. Here's a couple ideas to fill your time that also contribute to good RP.
- Build a firing range in the labs. A brilliant idea is to arrange some targets for you and your SRU to practice on in the lower levels, giving you a taste of organised AgrRP.
- Arrange an excursion with the president. The SRU are not the President's bodyguards but protecting the president while he gets out is a good way to interact with the public and enforce your authority in a passive manner.
- Build something! All that free time allows you to build things relevant to your job. Build a sports spot in the garage with basketball or create a blockade you can use in defending vital government locations.
Rely On Each Other
Spoiler :
Use your squadmates to your full advantage! Rush in to be the hero and you'll either get a punishment from staff or shot to pieces.
Great, roleplay based raids come from teamwork. Allow your team-mates to take control, and back them up when needed. Without organised muscle behind you you'll be torn down. The same applies to the Sergeant; order your officers into multiple entrances and tell them when to assault on your order. In short, don't be silly.
Professionalism
Spoiler :
The SRU has gained a reputation for being a lethal and often aggressive force on Fearless. Break the stereotype! Try and maintain a professional image at all times, and respect the public. You are there to serve and protect, not to kill and intimidate.
