Ubisoft 'sabotaged' PC version of Watch_Dogs? - GRiiM - 06-16-2014 Article: http://www.pcgamesn.com/watchdogs/watch-dogs-mod-brings-back-original-e3-effects Download for the new patch: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=390114 Basically someone on the Guru3D Forum has found the original shaders, effects etc. from the E3 2012 demo that were locked up and hidden away in the Watch_Dogs game files. There has been many discussions complaining that consumers were seriously mislead by the Ubisoft E3 2012 demo as the game looks a hell of a lot worse in the final version of the game. Video comparison here - This patch restores a lot of the original aesthetics to the game which include: -Changes to the default fog values -Enabled bokeh DOF for the main cameras -Stuttering Improvements -E3 2012 Bloom -Performance Improvements -Enabled Headlight Shadows -LoD Changes -Reflection changes -Added 3 new cameras to the game(closer, normal, further) -Rain changes(High quality rain drops, properly reacting to light, etc) -LensFlares(WIP) -Lighting changes(TESTING AND WIP) -Civilians density changes And many more things.. SOON. Microsoft/Sony paying them off to not include these because their consoles can't handle them is the only explanation I can think of for this. Not only does the game look a lot better but reportedly the game now works perfectly for those who had performance issues. I'd call this a pretty undeniable example that shitty console standards are indeed holding back PC gaming from progressing further. Thanks Ubisoft. ![]() [Image: LMY3Du8.jpg?] RE: Ubisoft 'sabotaged' PC version of Watch_Dogs? - Jan - 06-16-2014 That first screenshot.. Holy shit. Indeed, I really want a few comparison images between the original and the patch. I haven't seen any pop up yet though. RE: Ubisoft 'sabotaged' PC version of Watch_Dogs? - Weecow - 06-16-2014 Well I had massive performance issues even on low.. I think this will fix it but I never ever expected ubisoft to do shit like this. RE: Ubisoft 'sabotaged' PC version of Watch_Dogs? - Ms. Mudpie - 06-16-2014 Why is it so hard for major game publishers to not be dicks? No pun intended. RE: Ubisoft 'sabotaged' PC version of Watch_Dogs? - GRiiM - 06-17-2014 TotalBiscuit's view on this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b43ZlqPvBDs Also a heads up, they're gonna do the same with Far Cry 4. http://mrgamesofficial.com/far-cry-4-ps4-and-xbox-one-graphics-to-be-equivalent-with-pc-ultra-high/ Quote:Hutchingson goes further to explain that Ubisoft wants the experience to be the same across all platforms. This news has prompted concerns within the PC community with many fearing a similar situation will occur to the recent disappointment experienced with Ubisoft’s latest hit title “Watch Dogs” where graphical potential of the PC game was reduced from the glamorous pre-sale promotional footage which was shown at the 2012 E3. I for one will not buy another Ubisoft game again unless it's at a drastically reduced price to match it's drastically reduced quality. |
