Speeding Up GMod - GeneralSirens - 02-08-2014

I recently downloaded GMod on my PC, but I find that playing only DarkRP (to test out) made it go to 0-1 FPS, heaven forbid on fearless, plus it always times out when I try to join fearless.

Any fixes?

EDIT: Images

Acer is my External HDD from my old laptop, Gmod However is on the C drive.
Also I have only just started using the E: Drive (External) But the current stuff on there is the stuff from my broken laptop.

Possible causes

1. To many workshop items
2. Scan your computer for viruses in safe mode, you may have a virus that is using up CPU
3. To many things running in the background

Solution I found
Try playing with Steam in small mode - View > Small mode

Try other servers. That server may have been experiencing problems.

Will you tell me the instructions to scan for the virus? Also do I need to disable the workshop items only?

Bump due to Editing Posts.

RE: Speeding Up GMod - Termin - 02-09-2014

I would start by deleting all your addons and trying a server.

Might want to clean your C drive, since I'm guessing that's where the OS is at. Give it at least some 10GB of room to breathe.

Your specs don't list your GPU. What is your GPU?
