I played the original game which was a source mod.
I have always been more fond of mount and blade;
However, may play it one day...

That I disagree with. M&B's combat is far inferior, but the game itself has so much more to offer than just combat, which is why it beats both the new and old Chivalry (and War of The Roses for that matter).
