Yksikkö sai alkunsa vuonna 1972, jolloin poliisin ylijohdon kehotuksesta Helsingin poliisilaitoksen liikennepoliisissa perustettiin 15 miehen erikoisryhmä. 1970-luvulla Suomessa järjestettiin ETYK-ulkoministerikokous vuonna 1973, OPEC-kokous ja ETYK-huippukokous vuonna 1975, ja erityisesti vuoden 1972 Münchenin olympiakisojen terrori-iskun myötä myös Suomessa nähtiin tarvetta varautua erilaisiin kriisitilanteisiin. Alkuvaiheessa mallia otettiin Saksasta, jonne joukko suomalaisia poliiseja matkusti 1970-luvun puolivälissä tutustumaan paikalliseen erikoistoimintaan.
Yksikön asema virallistettiin vuonna 1983, jolloin sisäasiainministeriö laati sitä koskevan määräyksen. Ensimmäiset kymmenisen vuotta yksikkö toimi hiljaisuudessa, mutta suurelle yleisölle sen olemassaolo tuli tietoon viimeistään vuonna 1986 Jakomäen pankkiryöstön ja sitä seuranneen panttivankitilanteen myötä.
The Bear Squad (Karhu-Ryhmä in Finnish, literally the bear team; Karhu-gruppen or Beredskapsenheten in Swedish), officially known as Helsingin poliisilaitoksen erityistoimintayksikkö (Special Operations Unit of the Helsinki police department) is a special operations and counter-terrorism unit of the Finnish police, equivalent to SWAT teams in the United States. Though it is part of the Helsinki police department, Bear is a national special police unit that is used all around Finland. Bear was formed after the Munich massacre in 1972 to provide security for the OSCE Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe that was held in Helsinki in 1975. According to law all counter-terrorist operations belong to the Police or the Finnish Border Guard – with Finnish Defence Forces not involved in CT during peace time.
The Bear Squad includes, in addition to leadership and training groups, direct action, technical, dog (K9), and explosive disposal groups. It can also be reinforced with a negotiation group for hostage situations.
The Bear Squad operates under the authority of the Finnish Ministry of the Interior and is headquartered in Helsinki. Its members are all volunteers and alternate between normal police work and SWAT duties. The group had a strength of about 90 police officers in 2008.
The team's weaponry consists almost entirely of standard Finnish police weapons. It uses the H&K MP5 as its primary submachinegun, Sig 552 as assault rifles and the Remington 870 as shotgun. The only significant difference is the use of H&K USP as personal pistol. The sniper rifles used by the group are Sako TRG -series of rifles TRG-21 and TRG-42.
Our Main Rules:
Always follow the rules of the server and be friendly to other players on the server and don’t show aggression to other clans. Being a member of The Bear Squad does not permit you to violate the laws of the server. You must follow your current role in The Bear Squad, respect people who are in higher grade and listen to them and do the duties of your position requires. Do not rob another member or allies as this you end from the group. Do not randomly start a war without the approval of General or Colonel, unless absolutely necessary. Otherwise, this will result in demotion. You must have your clan-tag set to " The Bear Squad-(rank)''
Entry Requirements:
• Be able to RP properly.
• Be able to work as a squad/platoon without disruption
• Have a decent reputation (Not known for excessive RDM/CDM/Theft etc...)
• To be able to take orders and execute them effectively
• To play regularly on Fearless and participate in clan meetings and raids.
• Have access to high grade military weapons from inventory
• Microphone
• Basic knowledge of English (And finnish if possible).
• You need to be 15 years or older.
• You need to have at least 36 hours of playtime on CityRP.
• Ability to handle stress.
• No recent bans, maximum of 6 bans in total.
• Being member of Fearless.
