Here in the U.K it is only in recent years that snow has been a problem thus little has been invested in preventing disruption... I could easily have gotten into school, but apparently the site wasn't 'safe'. As far as I am aware the airports aren't closed as long as they once were when snow came down and a good few schools remained open altogether.
