Hey I am looking to try and set up a small hosting company 5 servers to start with can anyone tell me how I would go about finding a decent company to supply counter attacking as I would like to offer DDoS protection as part of the deal or is it simple to set it up my self 2k a quarter is my budget I think or is that to high or low?

Well. Of course I am going to be bias and say http://byaservers.co.uk/ because I work for them but we offer cheap Gmod servers for 32p a slot if wanted but it is all up to you. You also have Cloudhosting for VPS or nitrous networks.
